Mit Vinylknistern und einem Geisterpiano wird man hineingezogen in die Prayers from the underbelly (PR 90274) des Ensembles mJane. Kopf dieses mit äußerst merkwürdig nur sehr unzureichend charakterisierten Klangkörpers aus New Mexico ist die Komponistin und Vokalistin Molly Sturges. Per Conduction leitete sie live auf dem High Mayhem Festival 2003 in Santa Fe ihr elektroakustisches Quintett mit DJ Ultraviolet (turntables), CK Barlow (sampling), Moustapha Stefan Dill (oud) und Jefferson Voorhees (percussion), das sie selbst noch mit einem Klangfond ihres Harmoniums unterlegt. Mit einem bizarren Konglomerat aus Widersprüchen, einer Fusion von Körper und Virtualität, Folklore und elektrifizierter Urbanität, suggeriert mJane exotisch-imaginäre Traumlandschaften, die Sturges fake-ethnisch zungenredend durchstreift, wie eine Multipersonality-Schamanin, in die die Geister von Diamanda Galas, Fatima Miranda, bulgarischer Chöre und chinesischer Stimmwunder gefahren sind. Inspiriert durch die bei der Geburt ihrer Tochter erlittene Nahtoderfahrung scheut sie sich nicht, einen pathischen hohen Ton anzuschlagen, abseits bloß exotophiler Ethnoploitation. Wobei auch mJane sich seine Fans nicht aussuchen kann. Die ‚Prayers‘ scheinen an verschüttete Erinnerungen an die lange Zeit und das weite Land zu appellieren, bevor sich die Nomaden und Pilger im Dickicht aus Blech und Beton verhedderten. Wieweit das mehr sein kann als vager Schwulst, touristische Phantasie oder erhebende Unterhaltung, bleibt ungewiss. mJane zeigt Fremdes als hautnahes Faszinosum. Bei ‚She‘, einem Kunstlied für Oud, Percussion und Engelszunge, nur von feinsten Electrofäden umsponnen, werden erstmals die Lyrics verständlich: „She spins herself around, around / She spins herself off the ground... / I don‘t know what to say / I only smile..."

Head of this with extremely strangely only very insufficiently characterized ochestra from new Mexico is a komponistin and Vokalistin Molly Sturges. With a bizarren conglomerate from contradictions, a fusion Urbanitaet electrified by body and Virtualitaet, folklore and, suggests mJane exotic-imaginary dream landscapes, which Sturges roams across fake ethnical tongue-talking, like a Multipersonality Schamanin, into which the spirit drove from Diamanda Galas, Fatima Miranda, Bulgarian choirs and Chinese being correct miracles. Inspired by the close death experience suffered with the birth of their daughter it does not shrink from itself to fasten a pathischen high clay/tone off only exotophiler Ethnoploitation. Whereby also mJane its fans cannot select itself. The ' Prayers ' seems to appeal to buried memories of the long time and the far country, before the Nomaden and Pilger in the Dickicht from sheet metal and concrete got tangled. To what extent that can be more than vague Schwulst, routistic fantasy or raising maintenance, remains uncertainly mJane shows stranger as very close Faszinosum. With ' She ', an art song for Oud, Percussion and angel tongue, only of finest Electrofaeden, becomes for the first time the Lyrics umsponnen understandable: "She spin eleven around, around/She spin eleven off the ground.../I don't know what tons say/I only smile..."
