BIO:

Marjorie Sturm was born in Manhattan and raised in Rockland County. She studied psychology and art at the University of Michigan and then moved out to San Francisco in 1991. She has lived for extended periods in Mexico, Nepal/India, and Israel studying poetry, film, music, and religion. She has worked with the mentally-ill homeless in the Tenderloin off and on for the last seven years. In August 2002, she received her MFA in filmmaking and completed the award winning (Grand Festival Award for short feature at BV&FF2003) Smoke the Pipe Dream,Honey and Eggs, and Treehouse. Her recent projects include an experimental erotica film Voice, or No Voice for the PornOrchestra in San Francisco, a documentary on comtemporary shamanism, and a documentary on the cult-writer JT Leroy. She wrote lyrics on The Abstractions Ars Vivende CD and contributed flute and vocals on Ernesto Diaz-Infante's (a key figure in the American underground music scene) Next door to the Jefferson Airplane CD on Imvated Records. She is also in the process of writing her first feature-length script and releasing a DVD compiliation of her work on Pax Recordings.
