1) Stage Manager: This is probably the "busiest" position. The stage manager keeps track of when all the shifts begin and end, and cues musicians accordingly. He also helps musicians to set-up, getting them 20 minutes before their start time and instructing them where on stage to situate themselves (depending on where space will be without blocking view to other musicians). The stage manager also notes who will be using which microphone/direct-box and indicates this on the paper schedule that the Sound Person will have.
2) Sound Person: You're pretty much just running the mixer. Scott Looney is our primary sound guy, and he'll let you know when he needs your help. (Kristin, you're our "substitute substitute" sound person!) We're assuming that you're all pretty adept with a PA system.
3) Cd / Instrument Check-In: You'll be sitting at the large cd table, um... selling cd's. We'll have some sheets made so it'll be fairly easy to keep track of who brought how many cd's, how much they cost, how many have been sold, and how many the artist snatched back to give away as "comps". Behind you will be the instrument storage area, which doesn't require a huge amount of attention.
4) Back Gate: This is a large metal gate behind the stage, which artists can use to get in with their equipment. Unfortunately, attendees tend to see it from the front gate, and if we're not careful they'll get in without paying. Just keep an eye on it, opening it for artists, and politely shooing the paying attendees to the front gate. Let artists know they can pull in with their cars if they have excessive equipment, but then they must park somewhere else after loading. We'll provide you with some bold-printed signs to put up and a black-knight type suit of armor (optional).
